E-Governance

E-Governance refers to the use of information and communication technologies (ICT), such as the internet, mobile applications, and digital platforms, to improve the delivery of government services, enhance transparency, promote accountability, and encourage citizen participation in governance processes. It enables more efficient and accessible interactions between governments and citizens, businesses, employees, and other government entities. 

Through digital tools, E-Governance supports streamlined public administration, fosters data-driven decision-making, and helps combat corruption by making government operations more open and traceable. 

In the African context, and particularly within the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), E-Governance is recognized as a critical component for achieving good governance and is reflected as a standalone thematic area in the APRM’s revised governance assessment framework
